The Lockes leave New York

NEW YORK, NY. (Circa 1935) The Locke family leaving New York City for St John’s by ship in the 1930s where they worked in construction and domestic service. Trade and migratory labour meant travel  was common between Newfoundland and New York, Boston and Philadelphia from the 1880’s through 1940s until confederation with Canada.
