GRANDE PRAIRIE SCRAPBOOK
Grande Prairie is a small city 400km north of Edmonton in the Peace District of Alberta. It is the northern limit of the great continental prairies. It is the regional hub for transportation, agriculture, forestry and oil an gas industries for the region. It is also on the main northern route into British Columbia, Yukon and the last major centre before heading up the Alaska Highway. For this reason it is also a prime destination for Newfoundlanders working in the region. Outside of Fort McMurray I would guess it has the highest number of Newfoundlanders in Alberta.
I spent nearly six months working and travelling in the region meeting Newfoundlanders, both long time residents fully embedded in their new culture and those who are commuting back and forth to Newfoundland.
This is my Scrapbook.
